The objectives of CBMCs are to support, improve, and promote the following:

5. Education for all (including determined, old, minorities, low-qualified/skilled employees, and geographically isolated)

6. Collaboration between employers and education and training institutions

  1. CBMC Characteristics

CBMCs have following characteristics & represent a shorter/narrower engagement with a subject:

1. Offered across all subject areas

2. Offered in all formal learning environments—onsite, virtual, or hybrid

3. Credit-bearing against a recognised level of the QFEmirates (7 or 8 or 9)

4. Assessed according to defined standards

5. Internal and external quality assurance (QA) processes apply best practices and QA standards

6. Do not constitute a full qualification /degree

 

  1. Principles of CBMCs

CBMCs suit industry and employability needs and are learner-owned. They teach work-related skills. MC’s basic principles are:

Adherence to quality assurance standards.

 

  1. Recognition of CBMCs

CBMC records will be digital for worldwide recognition. Licensed/accredited education and training institutions and external quality assurers must ensure digital technologies provide stackability, portability, transparency, reliability, and validity of information.

 

  1. Assessment of CBMC Learning Outcomes (LO)

Licensed/Accredited education and training institutions evaluate LO using clear and open criteria. Assessments measure LO.

 

  1. Quality Assurance (QA)

To ensure portability, value, and trust in the credential, CBMCs are subject to the same QA requirements and evaluation as traditional certifications. Employers and education and training providers need QA to maintain confidence.

 

  1. Micro-credential (MC) Providers:The relevant authorities in India and UAE are:
  • Technical & Vocational Education and Training  (TVET) CBMCs: NQC (National Qualification Centres)
  • Higher Education CBMCs: Commission for Academic Accreditation- Ministry of Education
  • Emirates International Accreditation Centres (EIAC- Government of Dubai) a unit of International Accreditation Forum (IAF)[1]
